The Folkloric Club "Akrites Yeriou" was established in 1990 aiming to preserve and spread our tradition through research, dancing and the music of Cyprus.
The Club's Aim is for the youth of our community to be kept accurately informed, healthily occupied and socialized, since "Akrites" believe that it is through social interaction that people can change to the better.

Moreover, the Club has built up a cooperation with the twinned group "Megalonisos of Agia Varvara in Lefkosia, Cyprus", with "the Greek Centre of Folkloric Studies of Athens, with the "Euxine Cub of Episkopi of the Municipality of Anthemion", as well as with the "Spiritual Association of the Municipality of Spercheiada".
During these twenty years "Akrites Yeriou" have travelled to Greece countless of times and have cooperated with several municipalities such as the Municipalities of Athens, Karpathos, Karditsa, Rhodes, Igoumenitsa and Sofadon. They have also travelled to Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy, Malta, Serbia, the Arabic Emirates, Poland, Belgium, Spain, Russia, Israel, Constantinople and elsewhere.
The important milestones for the Club have been the honouring of Panayiotis Mylonas of ERT and their presence to TV stations such as ERT in Greece, BR in Germany, as well as to Spanish and Maltese channels. Finally, among the most considerable activities of the Club is the circulation of the "Akritika Nea" newspaper, the release of a DVD showing Greek popular dances and the release of two CDs with "wedding songs and dances of Cyprus".
